I got there around 950pm. It seemed too early as no one was around yet. The eagerness to meet you guys was unbearable. I sat at a table and watched Ikon Malaysia on tv. Apple juice, a thirst quencher.
Padil was next to arrive at 1030pm on the dot. Dil, your punctuality is as sharp as ever. He came alone. Wifey had gone to PICC to support Mawi.
We waited in vain for the next one to arrive and Padil started calling everyone around town to get confirmation of their attendance. One after another said that they were not coming due to unforeseen circumstances. Padil sound frustrated. He was not well - watery eye, slight temperature and stomach problem but strong enough to muscle his way to Gazebo for the teh tarik session.
"Piq, nampaknyer kita berdua jer..." Padil muttered and paused.
"Jap lagi dorang datang arr tuh..." I tried to be positive.
Way passed 11pm, Aiie, the celebrated persona arrived with wifey. Suddenly, the gloomy and sombre Saturday nite turned into life.
Lara was immediately introduced to us and before she could even settled down, Padil cracked a joke - one of many for the nite. We burst into laughter and i could see people were looking at us in perplexed.
Past midnite, we kept on refilling our food and drinks and more photo taking and more jokes flying around.
Then, Padil's wifey came. She's definitely one of Mawi's biggest fan and guess what... Aiie too...!!! And if you wanna know more about Malaysia hypermarket scene, this husband and wife combo can tell you things which you'll never get to know from the mainstream media. Healthy competition and corporate espionage under the same roof.
We talked and chatted the whole night long from sweet memories to person development and current issues.
We bounced around 2:15am Sunday morning and little did we noticed that we've been there for more than 4 hours..!!!
Anyway, kudos to Lara and Julia for being such a sport and understanding life partner to my good olde mates. I am sure they are in good hands now.
Thanks to my wife too for sacrificing our weekend time together and baby sit our child. I love you, beb.
To everyone who couldn't make for their own reasons, we definitely missed your presence and hopefully we can meet up in the next session.
cheers...
# We'd planned to meet up at least once again before Aiie flies back to London on 1/9/2007. (Dengar2 Araya nak jamu satay kajang... amcam?)
