khas untuk mu...yONGG!!!!!
i m now based in shenzhen for a project in Doha, which i will hv to also travel to rotterdam to coordinate and monitor. it's cool because this rotterdam arkitek is one of my world top 5 fav architects masa study dan kerja. but after i hv worked with these guys in rotterdam, nothing great also, altho thru the media and the boss' popularity, the client's allow dia "main design". Rotterdam is boring altho it is consider fairly new and modern, but nothing that great. I think i prefer amsterdam more, due to its uniqueness with waterways and mariguana. aiie ader call me, and he could not get the ticket to come straight away visit me...and promised to show me where to get the best call girls....hehehehehe.
I also made 2 day trips to Germany and Belgium. It was really rush because we have to rush for deadline and hv to work overnight. I wanted t goto Berlin and look for si Fatin, but could not la...so, I settled for Aachen, Koln and Dusseldorf...all coooool!!!! In Belgian, I did Antwerp and Brussels, having mussels and wine!! hehe.
well, i will be here in china for s short term, because i still hv some small projects in KL, so i want to be home. I dont want to be here for too long but i will see how it goes by the end of the term. I prefer to operate from KL, but because this is a once in a lifetime oppurtunity, i took it up jer.
So, u miss me tak?
kat sini, best gak, becasue everywhere is food, no problem and also halal food. BUT one thing for sure, all is in chinese, so, it is DAMN FRIGGIN tough for me...i always point blindly or say whatever i want and hope they have that on the menu. OR, i will look at the only picture they hv and point to that. Speaking chinese is not a prob, but to elaborate further is a bit tough, because it has to be baku. But it is also good, that it is near hongKong, so, canto is widely used, but still mandarin is the most common.
so, when r u coming over to look for me?
Shenzhen and china (its cities) really modern la. Serious. I am also impressed with people in the bus, offering seats straight away. I have witness this countless times. The population in Shenzhen altho, this is a new city, is so big, malls r packed like sardine everyday. I am quite impressed actually...better than Singapore many many times. Well, better than them, because at least, it is still quite humane while it is organize and civilized, modern so far. Malaysia really need to buck up...i m serious about this if we want to join the 1st world....KL is wayyy behind Shenzhen except the KLCC area, which i like more...hehehe. I love Malaysia and hope to be back, but hate to lie to myself that it is good enough. I think we can be better but first, I think we need to settle all these politics shit and 'getting rich fast mentality' apart from working hard with substance. Having connections and the phase of "who u know and not what u know" really makes me puke.
By the way, How is the kid in yr stomach? OK? say hi to him for me yeah?
yesterday morning, there was a storm, and i had to run out and got wet for at least...7 minutes...so I was soaked by the time i reached office. Now, i m down with flu...the weather has changed to winter altho it is really slightly cooler...everyone started wearing sweater.
I hope u will keep warm and keep in touch. Send my regards to your abang....
from your abang,
keat

Packed up
Anyway, at the time of writing, i have packed up my racing gears - goggles, swim cap, shortie, cyling jersey, helmet, running shoes, socks, cap, Powerbar, Powergel etc. Hopefully, i have not forgotten and left anything behind.
Everything is in order. I hope my performance will be in order too.
I have never swam in an open sea before. Let alone a 1.5km distance. Goshhhh. There will be some anxiety when i enter the water tomoro. I hope i will be able to cope with the euphoria and the funfare at the much touted competition.
Weather forecast says that there will be some light drizzle in the early part of the morning and sunshine throughout the day. I am expecting a sun-baking condition coming to the running leg of the competition.
Mentally, i am stable now. Pyschoing myself for the event. Drumming my head with motivational mantras once used by legends like Muhammad Ali, Lance Amstrong even Rocky Balboa.
Physically, no injury. resting. recuperating. Im giving my muscles the much needed rest before the grand battle tomoro.
I have no specific target for tomoro except to complete the race once again. I need to prove to myself that A'famosa was not a one-time wonder. I am will fight the demon in me and prove that A'famosa was not a fluke.
I hope i can beat myself tomoro. Wish me luck.
Hope it's not too late...
Although it has been 15 weeks now that I have given birth to a healthy baby boy named Mohammad Fazli bin Mohammad Fahmi, I hope it's still not too late to post his pictures here. He was 12 days past due, finally came out to see the light on the 9th April 2008 at 22:58pm, Krankenhaus Olvenstedt Magdeburg. Weighing at 3,580g and 52cm long, he was a dream come true.
NObody is perfect
I was 110% prepared to deliver Fazli naturally and I did not pay much attention on to c-sect delivery at all. I thought as much anything worse could happen but I didn't take it seriously. So I did not really read thoroughly about c-sect delivery. And on the real day, I had to be cut in order to save both Fazli's and my life. So c-sect is the only way to get both of us out of danger, and later during the op the doctors found out an ectopic pregnancy at the other side of my womb. I have a bicornis womb (a heart shape womb, which is a hi risk pregnancy if one is pregnant. but we took the risk knowing the history of Farah, it was all OK)... It was a wonder how Fazli could live and survive at the other side of the womb untouched and healthy.
What I wanted to tell and share with you is, you should be prepared physically and mentally of the worst thing that could ever happen. I was not prepared mentally as well as physically to be operated. It was sort of hunting me day and night after the operation. I was under depression for weeks... So, the moral of the story is read thoroughly, ask your gynae whatever you need to know. You must be mentally strong especially, if you had to be operated. (take my case for instance...)
Mengapa? Tak percaya kah?
After 4 weeks of my delivery, I 'still' feel discomfort at the upper part of my stomach. (I had been complaining whilst my stay at the hospital but through the results of sonograph, it seemed to show nothing was wrong it me...) My gynae later sent me for CT because she said that it must've been 'something' else...
CT shows everything inside out... there it went... That moment I was told about a foreign object was left in my body during the c-sect, I was shaking and I cried a whole lot. Imagine, a gauze was left in my abdomen during the c-sect which I had earlier... You see, things like this should not happen, but it did happen...So on 8th May 08, I had to undergo another operation, which was a major one, to remove the gauze. They had my fresh wound reopened, made holes to give way to laporoscopy. Yet they still could not reach the foreign object, so this time they made a vertical incision as long as 15cm straight upwards to the upper part of the stomach. I had to stay at the ICU for 3 days cos I was not stable then. It was a bigger op and my body had to tolerate the op which was not an easy one and too much at one time.
There was a mixed feelings. I was so upset, depressed, disappointed... and most of all I lost my trust in all doctors since then. The germans claimed to be the best in medicine, yeah right... It was a trauma and I could not talk about it to anyone... But I'm ok now... I can talk to anyone about it...
The reason I'm telling you this is because I want you to tell the doctors (in case it's going to be a c-sect, which i hope not...) not to leave anything behind. ... Also this is a reminder to all friends out there... it can happen to anyone and we've heard a lot about it but I never thought it could happen to me. I was the victim...
OK, this is not to scare you... sorry if I did... didn't mean to scare you. Please tell any of yout friends if they were to undergo a surgery, tell their surgeons not to leave anything in their body! It's not surprising if it happens to anyone of us, because nobody is perfect...

Tennis ngan Ishae
We played 3 matches and i lost 2 of them... flat.
The 3rd set, i was leading 5-3 but had to abandon it due to time constraint.
Kitorang tak sempat nak lepak2 minum air sbb Ishae terpaksa drive balik jauh ke Kuala Selangor and time pon dah lebih kurang 1030pm masa tuh.
Note : Upiq masih pelik camne Ishae boleh tere ngan sekelip sedangkan Ejay dulu2 main cam siot despite Roky, Steven, Seok Ahr etc yg train dia. Cuma sejak dia main ngan Pak Ya dan Younicky nih baru larr ader improvement. Dorang nih spesies yg sama kot. Spesies pelik dan degil.

I CAN - Team Hoyt
Team Hoyt is father and son quest of the Ironman event in Hawaii. 3.8km(swim), 180km (cycling)and 42km (run). The father did this for the love of his handicapped son.
The video may take some time but worth every second of it.
Truely inspirational.
Just the right tonic i needed right now.
I CAN.
Glimpse of the future
Actually, he wanted a piece of the action.
"Nak main TENISSSSS...!!!!!"
Suddenly, he went from totally beserk to as quiet as a mouse after i passed him the ball.
.....and started whacking the ball. It was double handed forehand, if you havent noticed.
Was it a coincidence or the blood runs in the family?
It was really about our kids nowadays and he made me think about the future.

Trying to tri
Triathlon is a sport where an athlete has to complete three different disciplines -swim, bike and run (SBR) at one go. It is a type of endurance sport. It's not an easy sport. One has to have some level of physical and mental fitness/endurance to complete the distance. I have never done the three disciplines at one go but i have completed at least two of them at any one time in my weight loss training sessions.
For the A'famosa event, there will be two categories namely Sprint or Olympic Distance (OD) events.
Sprint event is where the participant will do 400m (swim), 15km (cycling), 2km (run) while the OD event the athlete has to complete 1.5km (swim), 40km (cycling), 10km (run).
I have entered the Sprint event but my mates are asking me to do the OD event.
A year ago, i would never imagined i'l be signing up for such an event but this year i felt a bit different. I hope i have the mental capacity to take me through this challenge. Breaking another mental block, i will. It is a personal challenge and the only person that i will be competing with is me. The only race that is running in my mind now is racing against myself.
Believe it or not, im trying triathlon.

Kuantan Pix
Fresh seafood at Tanjung Api. We got there quite late already, thus, most of the fish stock were almost finished.
Tanjung Api fishermen village.
Before we left Kuantan, stopped at a roadside stall for lunch. Marvellous collection of authentic Kuantan delicacies and kuihs.
Nasi dagang and tuna with gravy. Notice the white rice compared to coloured rice in the Kelantanese version.
Laksam or laksae. Thick-rolled but flat pasta rice goes with thick coconut fish gravy, a tinge of belacan/fish paste, veggie condiments and sambal. The gravy is not as thick as the Kelantanese version but rich enough for a savoury delight.
Basket full of keropok lekor/fish fritters.
4 sticks of sata ikan. 1 stick has got 4 satas.
You can get all the above and many more at this humble but famous 'Mok Naa' stall. It is located on the right side of the road, about 1.5km from the bridge heading towards Tanjung Lumpur. You'll see a Petronas nearby there. Highly recommended. Price is very reasonable. I paid RM52 for the above plus 4 glasses of fresh orange juices, teh o ais, ABC and RM15 of tapau sata ikan. cool, huh?
Make sure you get there before 4pm or else makan asap jelah.
They make the keropok lekor at the stall.
.....and fry them immediately. the one on the right was the fried prawns on sticks.
If you are in Kuantan, be sure to drop by at Mok Naa stall.
Arckk...
Aku plak duk umah, siapkan breakfast dan kitorang breakfast sesama.
Apa dah jadi?

Quick break
We used the new highway direct to Kuantan from Gombak. Took us slightly more than two hours to get there. Unfortunately, it was raining heavily, all the way until Gambang.
Managed to go to Teluk Cempedak albeit the rain, thus, no beach activity for the kid. We went to see wild monkeys at the adjacent forest instead. Kid was thrilled.
Later, we had dinner with wifey's friend at Anjung. Nothing special. Tomyam and stuffs. Usual suspect. Keat was right. Dinner in Kuantan are Thai-styled cooking, everywhere.
The next day, i went to play tennis while wifey went jalan2 with her friend.
I played two matches. Lost one, won one. I finished the 2nd match at almost noon when the sun was shining directly over my head. Panas giler. Wifey went to shop some fresh seafood at Tanjung Api, where the fisherman bring their daily produce to the shore. Tenggiri, Jenahak, Sotong, Udang, Lala etc were really really freash. Still slimey and no fishy smell at all. That's how fresh it was. Cant wait to get home to grill and steam them.
The discovery of the trip was when we had lunch before we left Kuantan. Authentic Kuantan food. It's a road side stall called "Mok Na". I will blog about it more once i get the pix.

Hisham Isa aka Ishae
Kuantan
As i am not familiar with the town, can anybody suggest to me what to look for, where to go, must eat food, where to take the kid, must-buy items for ole2 etc etc.
I will definitely look for sata ikan and keropoks but other than that, what, huh?
May Day
Woke up around 6am, had oatmeal + fruit breakfast, kissed my lil boy and off i went mentally prepared for a tennis tourney today. I still felt a tinge of the annoying nasal block. Hopefully, it will disappear as the day rolled on.
The tourney was organized by friends and for friends. Nothing official or formal about it. We, the Kajang tennis circle had invited our Kuala Selangor tennis friends to participate in this self-organised tennis doubles event. We'd collected RM50 each as entrance fee and we provided free-flow food & drinks (including isotonic drinks), medals and cash rewards to the winner.
12 pairs had participated divided into 3 groups and group winner will advance to the semis. Format of play was pro-set and all matches will have to be completed in the same day. The standard of players were quite even except for one or two providing a good match play for everyone.
After long hiatus from competing in a tennis tourney, i felt quite excited and adrenalin was gushing out of the gland. I played three matches in total. The atmosphere was great which brought back good olde memories. Things like the pressure to make a point, getting an ace, setting up 3rd/5th ball winner, poaching across the net, inside out forehand, slamming the overhead, drop/angled volley, flat serve, clawing back from 0-40 to deuce, pumping the fist celebrating a down the line winner etc were some of the highlights. I liked it. I really like it. I felt young again.
Anyway, i managed to enter semifinals and lost it in a 7-7, tiebreaker (7-4). Tiebreaker, yeah, it couldn't been any better than playing a tie-breaker, soaking the pressure that came with it. I loved it.
However, the brightest highlight of the day was when i'd found yet another long lost friend. Former Hilton stayer. Dia buat Pendidikan dulu. Math genius. Played softball for the USM team. Kelantanese.
Yes, guys - i found Hisham a.k.a. Ishae. He played tennis..!!! He played it good too. Kalau setakat Ejay, Nilki or Fassex mmg dia bleh pukul sesayur jer. I was very impressed. He was still like his old-self, constant smiling, quiet and unassuming. He managed to enter semi-finals too but he played in the other half. We'd wished that we would meet and played together but takde rezeki lar..
We had taken a photo together and im not trying to get the photo from another tennis friend. Once i get it, i will post it here.
Btw, Ishae is now living in Kuala Selangor and have been there since the day he graduated from USM. Married with three kids. He missed all of you and was eager to meet all of us at our next get-together cum teh-tarik session. Wahlau....
Ishae's contacts :
Ishae - kalau mung masuk blog nih, please say 'hi' to everyone in the shout box or the the comments.
Forty love..!! Game, set and match.

Bugged
However, this time i had super congested nasal block. Can u imagine the sticky greenish and yellowish phlegm stuck deep inside your nose and you had to blow it out so hard until your head goes slightly giddy?
Yeah. There's no better time for the bug to attack but on the eve of Labour Day break.
How worse can it get when wifey is going outstation tonite and i have a tennis tournament to play which starts at 8am tomoro, and who is gonna babysit my lil boy? fatherhood dilemma....
Haiya, hopefully, i can recover in time and fit enough to play while not disappointing my doubles partner (apparently, he had been training for the past week preparing for the tourney.. darn) and beloved mother, i hope i am not troubling you enough for taking care of my kid tomoro.
*i doubt i can recover... urrghhh*

Bagan Lalang - 27/5/2008
In all excitement after getting a road bike, i'd agreed to a bunch of friends to join them for a ride from MTDC, Bangi to Bagan Lalang (Gold Coast?). Yeah, got a 2nd hand road bike from a friend after much deliberation on the discounts part. The road bike was partly financed by someone very special and made my dream came true.
Anyway, as this will be the 1st time riding on a road bike, i had a lot of self-questioning about the safety, the possible mechanical faults, nutrition, fitness ability etc etc. However, in much anticipation, i slept early the nite before after watching MU lost to Chelsea (damn..).
Woke 530am on Sunday morning. Did dawn prayer. Had a light breakfast (oatmeal and 2 bananas), get my gears into the car, and off i went to the meeting point around 630am.
I reached the meeting point at around 7am for some testing, tuning and wheel & gear calibration. You can see in the photo i wasnt wearing a cycling shoe coz i dont have one..!! What have i got myself into.
Later, one by one, the riders came. Except for one person (other than me), the rest of the crowd were seasoned and experienced riders. I was almost pissing in my pants already.
A good friend then borrowed me his cycling shoes cos everyone was making a fun of my tennis shoes..!!
Frankly, any newbie will find it difficult adjusting to the cleat shoes (that's what they called the cycling shoes cos you have to cleat it while riding and uncleat it when you stop). If you forget to uncleat the shoes, be prepared to kiss the ground. Haha...
Anyway, we left the parking lot around 8am with 21 riders altogether, 3 ladies included. If you are familiar with the back road to Sepang, we passed Salak Tinggi town, F1 circuit and others.
Our first stopped was about 33km. An hour later..!! Shaittt. I was cursing when i got there. Cant they stop much earlier? (i thot). We refuelled and regrouped at a Shell Station at the Sepang town junction. Not everyone made it there, about 5 of them made a U-turn before the station and another 3 went back from the station. There were around 11 of us left to continue the journey to Bagan Lalang/Sepang Gold Coast.
We reached the Bagan Lalang beach at about 11am, approx 50km mark. I had a big plate of rice, veggie, two eggs and chicken. It's been awhile since the last time i had so much rice and almost forgetten how it tasted like. Simply delicious.
However, thinking that i need to make another 50km return journey - i better refuel properly. I had a Powerbar too, two cans of 100 Plus and lotsa iced water. After about 40mins of break, we made the return journey.
On the way back, we stopped at the Sepang town, 63km mark cos some of the riders ran out of isotonic drinks. You can see that i was smirking in tiredness. There's still a long way to go. Some of them had even stopped to buy dragon fruits sold by many small time farmers along the way. Unless you're fit like a horses, dont even think of carrying any extra weight. Even the camera felt like a heavy stone and i was trembling trying to keep the camera still while taking pictures.
At about noon, the sun was right on top of our head and look at the shadow. Scorching sun and searing heat. My meter showed 32km/h and 82.58km and counting. It was definitely gonna be my personal best in terms of mileage coverage.
Except for a couple of quick stop for re-fuelling, we continued our journey back albeit the heat. I wasnt easy but it's doable, i thot. By now, it was mental toughness rather than physical ability. Mind over matter. The only thing that kept me going was the thought of finishing something which i 'd started.
By now, i was left alone in between the front pack and the tail trackers. The front pack went at average of 35-40km/h and blazing through the winding road back to MTDC. It kinda hard riding alone but i dont wanna be the last one to reach the finishing line either. I presevered.
Got back to the parking lot at about 130pm. Total tour time was about 5 hours and total riding time was approx 3hrs and 45 mins. Mileage was 98.97km..!! Whoaaa... crazy man. I burned in excess of 7000 calories (another PB)..!! Surprisingly, except for a slight shoulder ache, the rest of the body felt fine. Alhamdullilah. That's a good sign.
One pose for the record with my new babe complete with cycling gears. Can you see the cleat shoes?
It was definitely a historic moment for me having completed a century ride on my first attempt on a road bike. It'd opened and raised lotsa eyebrows among the riders and it even exceeded my expectations by miles. The cycling group was a great, fun and enthusiatic bunch and i look forward for more rides in the future.
My self-confidence is now sky high knowing that there's no limit if you choose to break the barrier and overcome the obstacles. I have a renewed sense of self-believing and hope to soar even higher. To the person who made this possible, i love you so much and you will get your new guy, very soon..!!!

Cycling - 20/4/2008
Me and the trusted MTB. Look at the shadow and you can guess how hot it was. Water bottled filled-up with lemon flavoured Gatorade. I also took a Powergel to ensure that my nutrition is sufficient throughout the ride.
I mistakenly stopped my HRM watch nearing the end of the ride. The last reading was i had expenditured calories up to 2991kcal. I suspect i'd used at least another 300 calories plus another 500 calories for recovery. That's a healthy sum of calorie to burn.
Over 1hr30mins ride. Some say we had covered almost 50km. Some say we're short of of 40km. To me, it doesnt matter but it was a damn good sweating session and I had probably lost more than 2 pounds of water and fat along the way.
Later that evening, i played 3 hours or 12 sets of badminton just for muscle recovery and personal protest after watching Koo-Tan lost their match against the Koreans the day before.
