Kopi

DID YOU KNOW...

The half-life of caffeine in your body is about 6 hours. This means that if you consume a big cup of coffee with 200 mg of caffeine in it at 4:00 PM to get you through the rest of the work day, by 10:00 PM you will still have about 100 mg of caffeine in your system. You may be able to fall asleep, but your body will miss out on the substantial benefits of deep sleep. That deficit adds up fast. The next day you may need caffeine to be more alert in the morning, the following day you might need it to help get you out of bed. The pattern continues day after day.

Once you get in the cycle, it's a challenge to stop using it - it became an addiction. From thereon, if you try stopping taking caffeine, you will get very tired and depressed and you get a terrible, splitting headache as blood vessels in your brain dilate. This is most likely why 90% of Americans consume caffeine on a daily basis and Asians are catching up too, with gourmet coffee drinking is becoming a lifestyle need especially for the urbanites. I used to drink gourmet coffee - after lunch and after work frequently. I think it's more of peer pressure rather than being a true coffee drinker. In the morning, tea lady will serve me one big mug of Nescafe susu 'kaw' too. I am not saying that coffee is bad but as any other things in life, doing it a bit too much can be too much already. However, a recent lifestyle change has given me new perception on consuming coffee. It's no more in my system. Not even a drip. Even teh tarik is out of my listing already.

The benefits of quitting caffeine may include:
* Decreased risk of hypertension
* Decreased tooth decay (and a whiter smile)
* Stronger bones
* Increased libido or sexual performance

Want to break the cycle? This week, when you make your coffee, use 3/4 regular and 1/4 decaf. Next week, use 1/2 and 1/2. The following week, use 1/4 regular and 3/4 decaf. By this time next month, you will have switched completely to decaf.

Nilki : Dulu pon, wa hari2 siot minum kopi. Kalau tak pekena lepas lunch mesti rasa takde tenaga nak keje...

High performance athletes minum caffeine bebyk sblom dorang compete. it is a kind of instant energy booster to get that last mile timings.

However, dorang minum, pastu dorang dispose immediately through their physical exercises, thus, excess caffeine is not stored in their body system.

In short, if you're a coffee drinker, it would be good if you exercise too. It'll enhance your performance to the next level.

I might as well be tucked in bed if I'm not going to get my cuppa man!

Try fresh bananas, grapes or any berries instead..

They provide similar instant energy boost although they are not as strong as caffeine.

Worth a try, though
