Working Trip 10

At the end of my working trip to China, i had the chance to spend a couple of nights in Shanghai before flying off to KL. Shanghai is a really big city. I should rank it among other super cities like New York, Tokyo, London etc. There are 22 million people living in Shanghai. That is easily 10 times bigger than KL. Chinese proverb describe Shanghai as "People mountain, People sea" simply means that u'll see people everywhere like a sea of people and mountain full of people. The city is so ultra modern and KL is easily 20 years behind them. Below are some of the highlights :

The most famous bridge in Shanghai.

Nanjing Road. The popular walking shopping area. It took me more than an hour just to walk to the east side and still i havent reach its end. One of the building remains built by the French in those days.

Having a coffee break on the terrace overseeing a nice park and a backdrop of many tall buildings. Chilling out with colleagues and savouring new and modern local way of relaxing. Temperature around 20C. Best giler...

I went shopping the this local market and saw a glimpse of the once tallest building in the world (now, 2nd to the one built in Mid-East). A mixture of old and new.

This picture was taken from The Bund. A place where the British and the French landed to conquer China. If you can remember the movie Fong Sai Yuk or Once a time in China (starred by Jet Li), the mat salleh army started a foreign colony at this site. Now, it is the most happening area in Shanghai. Opposite The Bund, across the river, is Shanghai's famous skyline. The skyline looks like a Legoland but i'm in awe admiring the development here. More pix around The Bund. I'm sure you have seen the famous street behind me which has featured in many documentaries and magazines around the world.
This is the carriage which will transport you underground across the river to go to the other side of Shanghai.
Once you get out from the tunnel, this is what you are presented with. Cair sel otak gua tengok bangunan nih.
Anyway, this is the end of my adventure in China. The journey to your country had opened my eyes of what lies in the future. People around the world had condemned the Chinese government for embracing the socialist ideology to run their country. The regime had certainly carried out it work impressively and the communist system is really working in China. I've since changed my perceptions towards China and i 've learned so much culturally, socially and professionally during my stay there. I hope those who have been reading this series had learned in some way of what to expect from China in the future.

The End. Bye. Bye. China.
